Terrell Unit offers in-person visitation on weekends only—Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Regular visits last two hours, and each inmate can receive just one visit per weekend. To schedule, you'll need to create your own TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler account (staff can't set one up for you). After registering, you'll receive an email with a 7-digit validation code, and you must complete the Background Questionnaire to finish setup. Terrell Unit switched to TDCJ's centralized digital mail system on Sept. 6, 2023. Incoming personal mail—letters, cards, and photos—goes to a Digital Mail Processing Center where it's scanned and uploaded to the inmate's electronic account. Address your envelope with the inmate's full first and last name, TDCJ number, and the unit address. Newspapers, magazines, and books are only accepted when shipped directly from the publisher, supplier, bookstore, or an online bookseller. If the inmate doesn't have a tablet, they receive black-and-white printed copies of scanned correspondence. Legal or privileged mail follows a separate process.

Sending money to someone at Terrell Unit is restricted to approved senders. Only people on the inmate's Approved Visitation List or Inmate Telephone List can deposit funds (policy effective September 1, 2020). To become an approved eCommDirect sender, have the inmate add you to their Approved Visitation List, or register your phone with Securus to get placed on the Approved Phone List. eCommDirect sets quarterly spending limits: $70 for Jan–Mar, $70 for Apr–Jun, $70 for Jul–Sep, and $95 for Oct–Dec (Holiday Spend). Fees apply: $3.75 per purchase transaction, plus deposit fees of $2.50 and 2.25% of the deposit amount.
