How to Register Your Phone to Receive Calls from Terrell Unit
Got someone at the Terrell Unit? You'll need to register your phone number before their calls can come through. Here's how to do it, what you'll need, and what to check if calls still aren't connecting.
TDCJ requires phone numbers to be registered before an inmate can call you. This trips up a lot of families - especially after a transfer or when you're setting things up for the first time. If your number isn't in the system, the call simply won't connect. Getting your phone registered is step one to hearing from your loved one at the Terrell Unit.
Register your number at texasprisonphone.com. Once it's in the system, your phone becomes eligible to receive calls from TDCJ inmates.

Registered but still not getting calls? Check whether your number is on the inmate's Approved Phone List. You can contact Securus to register your phone and get placed on that list.
There's another option that sometimes helps: have your loved one add you to their Approved Visitation List. Being on that list can also make you an approved eCommDirect sender, and it's often mentioned alongside the phone list as a way to get recognized in the system.
Note: If you’re still stuck, call the Terrell Unit to confirm the inmate is assigned there and has the privileges needed for communication.
