How to Contact an Inmate at Facility
Staying in touch usually starts with phone calls. Here's what you need to know about how calling works at this facility, plus how to get your number approved and funded.
Calls from this facility can be monitored and recorded. Plan your conversations with that in mind. If you need to share sensitive legal information, talk with an attorney about the best way to communicate. Phone calls only go through to numbers on the offender's Call Allow List. If your number isn't on that list, the call won't connect, even if there's money in the account. A few built-in limits can catch people off guard. Calls max out at 25 minutes, so they'll cut off once that limit hits. Call forwarding and three-way calling aren't allowed either. Keep it direct: no forwarding features, no adding a third person.
Note: Calls may be monitored and recorded. Assume staff can listen to or review any call.
Steps to Follow
- ✓ Ask the offender to transfer money from their trust account to their Securus debit calling account. Transfers can be made in $1 increments.
- ✓ Set up your own Securus account if you want to pay for calls as they come in. Friends and family can set up a pre-paid collect or direct bill account through the Securus Technologies website or by calling 1-800-844-6591.
- ✓ If you use a pre-paid collect account, add every number you want to use. Multiple telephone numbers can be added to an individual pre-paid collect account.
- ✓ Make sure the phone number you want to use is on the offender’s Call Allow List, since calls are restricted to only the numbers on that list.
- Confirm the call can be paid for - this can be through funds the offender transferred to a Securus debit calling account, or through a Securus pre-paid collect or direct bill setup on your end.
- Double-check the phone number is allowed - calls can only go to numbers on the offender’s Call Allow List.
- Take the call and watch the time - the maximum time allowed per call is 25 minutes, and the call will end when that limit is reached.
What to Verify
- ✓ Confirm the current way to reach Securus (Securus website or 1-800-844-6591) for setting up a pre-paid collect or direct bill account.
- ✓ Confirm whether your specific account type allows multiple telephone numbers (pre-paid collect accounts can have multiple numbers added).
- ✓ Confirm the phone number you want to use is already on the offender’s Call Allow List.
Reminder: Calls may be monitored and recorded. Call forwarding and three-way calling aren't allowed. Keep the call direct and assume it isn't private.
