How to Sign Up for a Face-to-Face Visit at Tom Green County Jail
Face-to-face visits at Tom Green County Jail work on a same-day sign-up system with a set schedule. Bring the right ID, show up during the sign-up window, and the rest is just waiting for your number to be called.
Before You Come
- ✓ Bring a picture ID: a valid Driver’s License, a state-issued ID card, or a Military ID.
- ✓ If you’re bringing someone under 17, they must be with an adult and can only visit during the evening visitation.
- ✓ Morning visits: up to 4 adult visitors allowed.
- ✓ Evening visits: 4 adult visitors allowed, and there’s no limit on the number of children.
You'll fill out a sign-up slip when you arrive. Write clearly and complete every field - staff move fast when they start calling numbers. Keep your ID handy. When your number comes up, you'll head to the window with your slip and photo ID.
Sign-up slips are available twice daily: 7:00 am and 4:00 pm.
Officers begin signing visitors up at 8:30 am for the morning session and 6:30 pm for the evening session. Arrive before those times so you're ready to go.
Morning sign-ups run from 8:30 am to 9:30 am. Evening sign-ups run from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
Morning visits happen from 9:00 am to 11:00 am; evening visits run 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Doors open at 9:00 am and 7:00 pm for the first round. Have your sign-up slip and ID ready - movement starts right away.
Note: Each session follows the same sign-up and entry process. Visits are limited to 20 minutes.

Warning: Don't open the visitation door for anyone outside. Once visitation starts, that door stays locked.
Each visit lasts 20 minutes. The sign-up and entry process is the same for every session. Once you're inside, stay put - leaving the visitation area ends your visit.
