How to Contact an Inmate at Topeka Corrections Facility, KS (KS)

Residents at Topeka Correctional Facility can place collect calls or prepaid calls, but they cannot receive incoming calls from family or friends. The phones are coinless and available at various times throughout the day, including during yard periods. Each living unit also has set evening calling periods, so when your loved one can actually get to a phone depends on where they're housed.

Note: Resident phone calls (except attorney calls) may be monitored and recorded under KAR 44-2-102(c). Save anything sensitive for legal calls and follow your attorney's guidance on confidential communication.

The phone service provider for resident calls is ICS Corrections, Inc. If you'd like to fund or manage prepaid calling, you (the called party) can set up a prepaid account through the ICS account system. Online account setup is offered at no cost.

Steps to Follow

  • Confirm the phone number you want called has been added to the resident’s approved call list, and that it has been verified and activated
  • Set up a prepaid account with ICS Corrections, Inc. (online account setup is available at no cost)
  • If you prefer to set up prepaid service by phone, contact ICS Corrections customer service at 1-888-506-8407
  1. Get your number approved and activated. Every new phone number a resident requests for their approved call list must be verified and activated before they are allowed to call it.
  2. Choose how you will pay for calls. Residents can make collect calls or prepaid calls, so you will either accept collect calls or set up prepaid calling through the provider.
  3. Plan for outgoing calls only. Residents are not permitted to receive incoming telephone calls, so you will need to wait for your loved one to call you.

If calls aren't coming through, start with the most common snag: the approved call list. A resident can't call a new number until it's been verified and activated. That means a recently added cell phone, new area code, or updated contact number may not work right away. If your loved one says they submitted the number, ask whether it's actually been activated before assuming something is wrong on your end.

Reminder: Calls may be monitored and recorded except for attorney calls. If you're coordinating with an attorney, confirm the process for attorney calls so privileged conversations stay protected.

  • Confirm you are using the correct provider for this facility (ICS Corrections, Inc.) before you add funds or create an account
  • Verify current prepaid account setup options with ICS, including online setup (available at no cost) and phone setup through customer service at 1-888-506-8407

There's no single phone schedule for the whole facility. Residents have access to coinless phones at various times during the day (including yard periods), and each living unit has its own evening calling window. If you're trying to catch calls consistently, ask your loved one what their unit's evening phone times are so you know when to keep your line open.
