Who can visit someone at Topeka Correctional Facility? Understanding incentive levels (Intake, Level I, Levels II & III)

Planning a visit to Topeka Correctional Facility? The resident's incentive level determines whether you can visit at all. KDOC ties visiting privileges directly to that level—and you'll also need to be on the resident's pre-approved visiting list before you're admitted.

Who can visit someone at Topeka Correctional Facility? Understanding incentive levels (Intake, Level I, Levels II & III)

The resident's incentive level controls who can visit at Topeka Correctional Facility. At Intake, contact is extremely limited. Levels II and III open things up considerably. But here's the key: regardless of the resident's level, you won't get in unless you're on their pre-approved KDOC visitation list. Confirm both the incentive level and your approval status before making plans.

Intake

  • Attorneys
  • Clergy
  • Law enforcement

Level I opens up visits slightly, though they're still limited to a specific group: attorneys, clergy, law enforcement, a primary visitor, and immediate family members. Being family or the designated primary visitor doesn't automatically get you through the door - you still need to be on the resident's pre-approved KDOC visitation list.

  • A maximum of four visitors are allowed per resident, per visit.

At Level II or Level III, visiting privileges expand significantly. The resident can see any approved visitor - not just family or a primary contact. The catch? You still need to be on that pre-approved KDOC visitation list. If you're not on it yet, get approved before you show up.

Two limits to know: Even at Levels II and III, residents can have up to 20 approved visitors total - but only four visitors can attend any single visit.
