How attorneys can contact clients at Travis County without calls being recorded
Privileged, unrecorded calls with clients in Travis County custody require proper setup. You'll need to register correctly with each system the county uses—otherwise your number and attorney status won't be recognized.
Travis County offers a free local phone call option for attorneys. Your client can place the call without you paying on your end - helpful when you need quick contact and cost shouldn't be a barrier.
Each attorney call is capped at 20 minutes, so plan for focused conversations or multiple calls. Travis County also limits you to one business phone number on the attorney call list. Pick the number you reliably answer before submitting.
Note: Calls are not recorded when your number/person is properly registered as an attorney on the TCSO Private Do Not Record list.
- Leave a message to have your client notified - Call 512-854-4666 and leave a message requesting notification, and be ready with the client’s booking number, full name, and date of birth.
Video visitation works differently. For Official Video Visitation, you schedule the visit yourself - but your attorney account must be verified by Travis County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) reception staff first.
