Sending Money & Getting Commissary for Someone at Travis County Correctional Complex
However you send money to someone at Travis County Correctional Complex (TCCC), the deposit needs the right identifiers to land in the correct account. Before you start, gather the inmate's full name, date of birth, and their Jail ID Number or Booking Number. Don't have those details? Use the county's Inmate Search to look them up first. Guessing is one of the fastest ways to create delays.
You can make an in-person deposit at the TCCC Finance Building at 3614 Bill Price Rd., Del Valle, TX 78617. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The office closes on Travis County holidays, so plan around weekends and holiday closures if you need funds posted quickly.
- ✓ Accepted for in-person deposits: money orders and cashier’s checks made payable to “Inmate Trust Fund” (no fees apply)
- ✓ Not accepted for in-person deposits: credit/debit cards and checks
One thing to know before buying a money order: Travis County won't accept money orders over $100 for inmate trust account deposits. Anything above that limit gets rejected.
Mailing a deposit? Send it to: Inmate Trust Fund (Inmate's Full Name and Jail ID/Booking Number), P.O. Box 1368, Del Valle, TX 78617. Include the inmate's full name, jail/booking number, and date of birth. Your own name and return address are required too.
The same $100 limit applies by mail. Keep your money order at $100 or less so it doesn't get sent back.
Western Union deposits require precise formatting in the "Inmate Account" field. Enter the inmate's 7-digit booking number immediately followed by their last name - no spaces, no hyphens, up to 23 characters total. Example: 1234567Smith. You'll also need the Travis County Sheriff "code city," which is TCSOITF TX.
TCCC offers two ways to get commissary items to someone: traditional commissary or SecurePak.
Traditional commissary happens inside the facility. Inmates place orders using kiosks in the jail, and purchases come directly from their Inmate Trust Fund account. Getting money into that trust fund is what makes regular commissary possible.
SecurePak works more like a packaged order you send from outside. Each inmate can receive up to $100 worth of SecurePak products per week, so plan your order around that cap. Timing matters: orders arrive 10–14 days after processing, so this isn't the best choice if they need something right away.
Practical Tips
- ✓ Don’t send money without the inmate’s full name, date of birth, and Jail ID Number or Booking Number
- ✓ For Western Union, don’t add spaces or hyphens - use the 7-digit booking number followed immediately by the last name
- ✓ Don’t buy a money order for more than $100 for a trust fund deposit (in person or by mail)
Reminder: For Western Union, the inmate account must be the 7-digit booking number + last name with no spaces or hyphens. Even a small formatting error can cause deposit problems.
