Three Ways to Send Money to Someone at Travis County Jail (TCCC)
Whichever deposit method you choose, you'll need the same information for the Inmate Trust Fund: the inmate's full name, date of birth, and Jail ID number or Booking Number. Get these exactly right. One wrong digit or a misspelled name can delay posting - or send your money to the wrong account. Not sure of the details? Check the booking paperwork you have or look up the inmate in the facility's records before sending anything.
You can deposit funds in person at the Travis County Correctional Complex Finance Building #230, 3614 Bill Price Rd., Del Valle, TX 78617. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The office closes on Travis County holidays, so plan around weekends and holiday closures if timing matters.
- ✓ Don’t bring a credit or debit card - they aren’t accepted for in-person deposits.
- ✓ Don’t bring personal checks - checks aren’t accepted.
- ✓ Use a money order or cashier’s check made payable to “Inmate Trust Fund.”
Heads up: TCCC will not accept money orders over $100 for deposit to an inmate trust account.
Prefer to mail your deposit? Send a money order or cashier's check to: Inmate Trust Fund (Inmate's Full Name and Jail ID/Booking Number), P.O. Box 1368, Del Valle, TX 78617. Include the inmate's full name, jail ID/booking number, and date of birth so staff can match the funds to the correct account. Add your name and return address as the sender.
Reminder: Money orders over $100 are not accepted for inmate trust deposits, including deposits sent by mail.
Western Union is the faster paid option - deposits post the following business day. You can pay with a credit or debit card, but Western Union sets the fees, not the jail. Expect higher costs compared to a money order or cashier's check.
- Enter the inmate account correctly - use the 7-digit Booking Number immediately followed by the inmate’s last name (no hyphens or spaces), up to 23 characters total (example: 1234567Smith).
- Use the correct code city - enter the Travis County Sheriff code city as: TCSOITF TX.
If you can get to the Finance Building during weekday hours (Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–3:00 pm), in-person deposits are simple and skip third-party fees. Just remember: no cards or checks accepted, and the office closes on Travis County holidays. Mailing a money order or cashier's check works well if you're not local, but there's less room for error - you need the right inmate details on the envelope and must stay under the $100 money order limit. Western Union makes the most sense when timing is tight and you want to use a credit or debit card. Plan for next-business-day posting and budget for the fees.
