How 'Visit Now' Video Calls Work at Travis County (GettingOut Tablets)

At TCCC, your loved one can start a video visit directly from the GettingOut tablet using the “Visit Now” feature. That means the call is initiated from inside the facility - when they choose to place it - rather than you picking a time and “calling in” like a typical appointment.

This “Visit Now” tablet call is different from onsite video visits that use a kiosk. If you’re trying to plan an onsite kiosk visit ahead of time, those can be scheduled through ViaPath Technologies Travis County Visitation Scheduling or at the kiosk located in the TCCC Visitation Center. Also, all TCCC and Travis County Jail onsite video visits are administered at the TCCC Del Valle Correctional Complex.

To answer a “Visit Now” call, you’ll need the GettingOut Visits app on your phone (Android or iOS). When your loved one initiates the video visit from the tablet, you answer the incoming call through that app.

If you want to do more than video visits - like exchange messages or send photos through GettingOut - you’ll need money in your Family & Friends Account. Without funds there, messaging and photo-sharing won’t be available even if you’ve already set up your login.

On the facility side, tablet features depend on your loved one being able to use the GettingOut tablet in the first place - including using “Visit Now” to start a video visit. If they’re having trouble accessing tablet services, it may come down to what’s available to them through their account on the inside.

For GettingOut-specific troubleshooting, there are help resources available at gettingout.com/help, including FAQs and video tutorials. You can also reach GettingOut’s 24/7 Customer Service line at (866) 516-0115. One heads-up that trips people up: Securus tablet subscriptions and media content will not transfer to ViaPath (GettingOut) tablets at Travis County.
