How to Register for In-Person Visits at Trenton Correctional (online and paper options)
Before you can visit someone at Trenton Correctional in person, you'll need to register. Some visitors can do this online; others must mail a paper application. Here's how to figure out which option applies to you.
As of June 1, 2025, adults (18 and older) with a valid South Carolina driver’s license can register for visitation online.
No South Carolina ID or driver's license? You'll need to apply by paper. This applies if you use a passport, U.S. visa, or any out-of-state driver's license. Online registration only works with a valid South Carolina license.
Note: No computer access or running into tech issues? The paper application works just as well.
Your approval also depends on the person you're visiting. Inmates receive SCDC Form 19-127 ("Request for Visiting Privileges") and send it to the people they want on their visitor list.
Keep in mind: each inmate can have a maximum of 15 approved visitors. If the list is full, someone has to be removed before a new person can be added.
If you’re applying by paper, mail the visitation application to: Division of Visitation and I/M DT, P.O. Box 212969, Columbia, S.C. 29221-2969.
Paper applications are required for adults with out-of-state driver's licenses, adults using a passport or U.S. visa instead of a South Carolina ID, and all minor children. For children, include documentation that verifies their relationship to the inmate.
If you have questions about the application process, call the Visitation Inquiry Line at 803-896-1838. Press 1 for questions about the application process or to leave a message.
