Why Your Visit Request Might Be Delayed or Denied at NWRCC (and How to Avoid It)
Visit requests at NWRCC usually get held up for a few predictable reasons: approval steps you haven't finished yet, background checks, or day-of security issues. Here's how the process works and what you can do to keep things moving.
You can't jump straight to picking a visit time at NWRCC. First, you need to create a free account in the video visitation system, then submit a photo of yourself and a government-issued photo ID for facility approval. Jail staff review these manually, so give yourself some lead time before you try to schedule. Once you're approved, every visit (on-site or off-site) must be booked at least 24 hours in advance through the video visitation system. Try to book same-day and the system won't let you. That alone can feel like a "denial" even when nothing is actually wrong with your application.
Even after your account is set up and your ID is uploaded, NWRCC still runs checks. The facility screens all visitors for outstanding warrants and searches for court orders that prevent contact. If something turns up, your visit can be delayed, blocked, or denied outright. No-contact orders are a common surprise, especially in cases involving family or domestic situations. If a court has ordered no contact between you and the person you're trying to visit, the facility's screening will catch it. Trying to push a visit through anyway can create much bigger problems than a missed visit. Get clarity on any court restrictions before you schedule.
Note: Any incoming or outgoing communication that violates a court-imposed no-contact order will be forwarded to the appropriate prosecuting authority and law enforcement agency.
Even after you're approved, day-to-day operations can still disrupt a visit. At-home (remote) visits at NWRCC can be scheduled daily between 7:00 am and 9:20 pm, but those windows may shift due to jail lockdowns. Security issues inside the facility can also affect visits in real time. NWRCC states that a visit may be delayed or terminated if security issues arise within the facility. So a visit that's on the calendar can still get cut short or postponed if something happens on the unit.

- ✓ Visiting while you appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. NWRCC will deny the visit.
- ✓ Using profanities, nudity, or illicit gestures during a visit, or not being fully clothed. These are prohibited for both the visitor and the inmate.
- ✓ Attempting to smuggle contraband into the facility. You will be asked to leave and you will forfeit future visiting privileges.
- Create your account early: Set up the free user account in the video visitation system as soon as you can.
- Upload your photo and government ID for approval: Your visit access is not automatic. Staff review your submission before you can schedule.
- Schedule at least 24 hours ahead: All visits (on-site and off-site) must be scheduled 24 hours in advance, so do not wait until the last minute.
- Double-check warrants and no-contact orders before you try to visit: NWRCC runs an outstanding-warrant check and looks for court orders preventing contact on all visitors. If there is a restriction, resolve that first instead of hoping it “goes through.”
- Plan around the remote visiting window, but expect interruptions: At-home visits can be scheduled daily from 7:00 am to 9:20 pm, but lockdowns can change availability. Keep your schedule flexible.
- Keep it clean and rule-compliant: Do not show up appearing under the influence, and do not attempt to bring contraband. Either one can end the visit immediately and contraband attempts can cost you future visiting privileges.
