Vending at Turbeville: Why You Need a Debit/Credit Card (and Which Ones Work)
Planning to grab snacks from the vending machines during your visit at Turbeville? You'll need the right card. Cash doesn't work anymore, and the wrong card means no vending for your entire visit.
Starting July 1, 2024, vending machines in the visitation area at Turbeville Correctional Institution only accept debit and credit cards. No cash. If you've always brought a few bills for snacks and drinks, switch to a card - your visit will go fine without one, but you won't be buying anything from the machines.
The vending machines accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. Here's the catch: prepaid debit cards don't work and can't even be brought into the facility. If you're unsure whether your card counts as prepaid, play it safe - bring a standard bank-issued debit card or a regular credit card from one of those four networks.
One more rule: each visiting group can only bring one debit or credit card inside. A family visiting together has to pick a single card for everyone. That card must have the cardholder's name printed on it, and the name has to match the visitor's ID. Borrowing a spouse's or relative's card? It could get flagged at check-in.
