Phone Calls from Turney Center: How ConnectNetwork Works and What Families Need to Know

Turney Center uses ConnectNetwork (powered by GTL) for its phone system. To pay for calls or manage account settings, you'll go through ConnectNetwork's online system, not the facility.

Your loved one can only call numbers on their approved telephone list. That list holds up to ten phone numbers total, so be intentional about which ones get added.

The inmate controls changes to the approved list. Adding, correcting, or removing a number requires the inmate to submit the update through their unit team. If you're waiting to receive calls, this is often the missing step: your number has to be on the list first.

1. Write a removal request - State that you want your phone number removed from the inmate’s approved telephone list.
2. Send it to the warden/superintendent - TDOC’s guidance is that third parties who want to be removed must submit a written request to the facility’s warden or superintendent.
3. Keep a copy for your records - Save a copy of what you sent in case you need to follow up later.

Start by creating a ConnectNetwork account. This is where you'll manage funding and payments. ConnectNetwork is TDOC's primary platform for the inmate phone system, so families handle everything phone-related there.

Payments usually process instantly. TDOC notes that all transactions are credited within two business days. If you just added funds and calls still aren't going through, give it a little time before troubleshooting.

In a family emergency, contact the facility chaplain. The chaplain may be able to arrange a phone call when circumstances require it. If you don't have the chaplain's direct number, call Turney Center's main line and ask to be connected.
