Yes. Before you schedule (or travel for) an in-person visit, you need to be on the adult in custody's approved visitors list. Even if an online system lets you pick a time, the institution can still deny your visit if you aren't approved. Confirm your status with your incarcerated loved one before you head out.

  • Driver’s license (valid)
  • Passport (valid)
  • State ID card (valid)
  • Military ID card (valid)
  • School ID card (valid)
  • Other official government-issued ID card (valid)
  • If you’re 15 or older, bring one of the photo IDs above - no ID usually means no entry

You can bring photos to share, but keep it tight: up to five non-Polaroid photographs, or five sheets of photographs. Plan to take them home with you - photos can't stay behind in the visiting room after your visit ends.

  • Two diapers (per child)
  • One clear plastic bottle (per child)
  • One single-layer blanket (per child)
  • One pacifier (per child)
  • Diaper wipes in a clear plastic bag (per child)

Leave routine medications at home. Prescribed or over-the-counter meds aren't allowed in the visiting room.

Emergency prescription medications - like an inhaler or nitro tablets - can come with you to the facility, but you'll need to leave them at the Sergeant's desk. You won't be able to keep them with you in the visiting room.

Medical exception: If a medical condition keeps you from passing a walk-through metal detector, complete the Metal Detector Medical Exception Form before your visit.

  • Non-emergency medications (prescribed or over-the-counter) - not allowed in the visiting room

Bringing emergency prescription medication? Keep it with you until check-in, then leave it at the Sergeant's desk. This includes inhalers and nitro tablets.
