Before Your First In-Person Visit to Tyger River: Health Screening, Masks, and Restroom Rules
Your first in-person visit can feel stressful—mostly because you don't know what might stop you at the door. Here's what to expect at Tyger River when it comes to health screening, masks, and restroom breaks.
Expect a quick health screening when you arrive. Staff will ask you COVID-19 symptom questions using an SCDC questionnaire, and they'll check your temperature at check-in. Give yourself a few extra minutes so you're not rushing through screening and starting your visit already flustered.
If you don't pass the questionnaire, your visit won't happen. Same with the temperature check - a reading of 100.0°F or higher means you'll be turned away that day.
Mask rules depend on the institution's current COVID operations status. When Tyger River is on
Mask reminder (Enhanced status): If the institution is on “Enhanced,” everyone age 4+ must wear a surgical mask provided by the institution for the entirety of the visit.
Plan your restroom breaks carefully. During a standard two-hour visit, you get one trip to the visitation room restroom. If you have a child age nine or younger, they must go with you - and that single trip counts for both of you. The simplest fix? Use the restroom before you go in, and make sure the kids do too.
- ✓ You can use the visitation room restroom one time during a two-hour visit.
- ✓ If a child age 9 or younger is with you, they must go with the adult to the restroom.
- ✓ That one restroom trip counts as the one-time use for both the adult and the child.
