Prohibited Objects

  • Weapons
  • Explosives
  • Drugs
  • Intoxicants
  • Currency
  • Cameras of any type
  • Recording equipment
  • Telephones
  • Radios
  • Pagers
  • Electronic devices

Leave prohibited items at home. Not in your pocket, not in your bag, not tucked in your car console. At USP Florence ADMAX, phones, cameras, currency, and other electronics are all prohibited for visitors, along with weapons, explosives, drugs, and intoxicants. Bringing any of these onto Bureau of Prisons grounds can get you denied entry and cause bigger problems than a missed visit.

If you need to carry medication, plan ahead. All types of medication you have with you (prescription or over-the-counter) must be listed on the visitor form.

Even declared medication cannot go into the visiting area with you. All medication must be left at the entry area. This is one reason to arrive with as little as possible, and to keep anything prohibited (like electronics) out of your vehicle and belongings altogether.

By entering or attempting to enter Bureau of Prisons grounds, you consent to being searched under Bureau policy and federal regulations (including 28 C.F.R. Part 511). Refuse a search, and you will be prohibited from entering.

What this looks like in practice: Staff may search you and your belongings (bags, boxes, jackets, coats, even your vehicle or containers inside it) before you enter or while you are on the grounds.

Dress Code

  • Revealing shorts
  • Halter tops
  • Bathing suits
  • See-through garments of any type
  • Crop tops
  • Low-cut blouses or dresses
  • Leotards
  • Spandex
  • Miniskirts
  • Backless tops
  • Hats or caps
  • Sleeveless garments
  • Skirts or dresses two inches or more above the knee
  • Dresses or skirts with a high-cut split in the back, front, or side
  • Clothing that looks like inmate clothing (khaki or green military-type clothing)

Dress code enforcement can be strict. Wear the wrong thing and you will be turned away. The safest approach: choose conservative, everyday clothing that is not revealing, not see-through, and does not resemble inmate clothing. If you are debating whether something is "too short" or "too low-cut," swap it out before you leave. Do not lose the visit at the door.

If you are refused for clothing: Call the facility before making the trip again to confirm the visiting schedule and avoid another wasted drive. USP Florence ADMAX's visiting page recommends calling 603-342-4000 before departing.

  1. Call before you leave - USP Florence ADMAX recommends calling to confirm the visiting schedule before departing: 603-342-4000.
  2. Assume the schedule can change - Visiting can be restricted or canceled for safety and security reasons, so a quick call can save you the trip.
  3. If you were turned away, re-confirm before your next attempt - Use the same number to verify the schedule again before you travel.
