Before You Go: Essential Checklist for Your First Visit to USP Lewisburg

This checklist is for family and friends getting ready for a first (or early) visit to USP Lewisburg, including visits at the USP, the Camp, and RDAP.

At the USP Penitentiary, visiting happens on weekends only: Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There's no weekday visitation Monday through Friday, unless a Federal holiday falls on one of those days.

The Lewisburg Camp and RDAP follow the same schedule: Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Holiday visiting for Camp/RDAP is scheduled at the Camp Administrator's discretion, so call ahead if you're planning a holiday visit.

Plan your day around the 2:30 p.m. admission cutoff. Show up after 2:30 p.m. for a day visit and you won't get in - treat that time as firm.

• ✓ Plan to be on-site well before 2:30 p.m. (earlier is better).
• ✓ Leave extra time for anything that slows you down at the gate - traffic, parking, and check-in.
• ✓ If you’re cutting it close, reschedule rather than risk being turned away at the cutoff.

Bringing kids or teens? Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian or an immediate family member who's over 18. Double-check that the adult in your group meets this requirement before making the trip.

At the USP, keep your group small. No more than five people can visit at one time - children count toward that total.

The Camp has a stricter limit: four people max, including children. If you've got a bigger family coming, plan for separate visits so no one gets turned away.

Know where you're headed before you arrive. USP visits take place in the USP Visiting Room. Camp and RDAP visits happen in the Camp Visiting Room.

Call before you leave home. The facility recommends confirming the schedule since visits can be restricted or canceled for safety and security reasons. The number is 603-342-4000.
