What to Wear (and What Not to Wear) for Duffield Video Visits: Clothing, ID, and conduct rules

You'll need a valid photo ID for your Duffield video visit. Accepted forms include a Driver's License (current or expired), Military or Government ID, Passports, school photo IDs, an Immigration Card (MICA), or any picture ID issued by a city, county, state, or government agency.

What to Wear (and What Not to Wear) for Duffield Video Visits: Clothing, ID, and conduct rules

Clothing Rules

  • Sheer/transparent clothing, or anything made of net or mesh materials
  • Clothing that unduly exposes the stomach, back, shoulders, chest, midriff, or underarms
  • Tight, body-accenting clothing (for example: spandex leggings, tank tops, bodysuits)
  • Dresses, skirts, jumpers, or culottes that are more than four (4) inches above the knee
  • Shorts (except for minor children)
  • Hats or head gear (except religiously recognized and approved headwear)
  • Clothing with gang-related, obscene, or distracting messages, shapes, or designs
  • Clothing that resembles security uniforms or inmate clothing

Warning: If your clothing falls into a prohibited category, your video visit can be denied.

Both you and the inmate must stay seated for the entire session. If you have small children, kids five (5) years old and younger need to remain on your lap at all times. The inmate must also face the camera throughout - the system uses facial recognition to keep the video running.

Heads up: If the camera can't detect the inmate's face, the facial-recognition system will shut off the video.

  1. Dress in conventional, modest clothing - avoid sheer/mesh fabrics, overly revealing or tight items, short skirts/dresses, shorts (unless the visitor is a minor), hats (unless approved religious headwear), and anything with gang/obscene/distracting messages or that resembles a uniform.
  2. Set up the camera so faces stay visible - the inmate needs to face the camera the whole time to avoid the camera shutting off.
  3. Do a quick framing check before the session starts - make sure your setup won’t tempt anyone to stand up, shift out of view, or move kids off your lap.
