Where to Mail Letters to Someone at Duffield Jail (It’s Not the Facility Address)

Since January 1, 2021, all regular postal mail for Duffield Jail must go to Smart Communications at a P.O. box in Seminole, Florida. This covers letters, postcards, and greeting cards. Include the facility name, the inmate's full name, and their ID number so your mail gets processed and delivered.

Heads up: Regular mail is scanned into the Smart Communications system for the inmate to view, and the original paper item is not kept.

Where to Mail Letters to Someone at Duffield Jail (It’s Not the Facility Address)

Use this format for regular mail going to Duffield Jail through Smart Communications (make sure the facility name is included in the address): Smart Communications – Southwest Virginia Regional Jail – (Duffield Jail) Attention To: (INMATE NAME – ID NUMBER) P.O. Box 9113 Seminole, FL 33775

  • ✓ Write the inmate’s full name on the outside of the envelope or postcard.
  • ✓ Write the inmate’s ID number clearly on the outside of the envelope or postcard.
  • ✓ If the name or ID number is missing, the mail will be returned to sender.

Exception: Legal mail and money orders for Duffield must still be mailed to the Duffield Facility at P.O. Box 367, Duffield, VA 24244 (include the inmate’s name). Since regular mail is scanned and originals aren’t kept, don’t send anything you can’t replace.

Here's the catch: your letter or card gets scanned into the Smart Communications system, and the physical original is destroyed. Don't mail anything irreplaceable - original documents, one-of-a-kind photos, or sentimental items you can't get back. Send copies instead and keep the originals at home.
