How to Contact an Inmate at Facility
Mail is the main way to send messages and photos to someone incarcerated here, but the process has changed. Here's what to send, how to address it, and what to double-check so your mail doesn't get rejected or lost.
Personal mail has gone digital. Letters, pictures, and drawings from family and friends are scanned and delivered to the inmate through the tablet's "Facility Messages" app under the free profile. Paper copies are not handed over directly.
Even though delivery is digital, the envelope still needs to be addressed correctly. Include the "ALDOC Inmate Mail Processing" line along with the inmate's name and AIS number. In the top left corner, write your full name and physical address clearly. This sender information is required.
Packages and legal mail work differently. Send those to the facility's local address, not the ALDOC Inmate Mail Processing address used for personal mail.
Deadline: Personal mail sent directly to the facility will no longer be delivered to inmates after November 10, 2025. Confirm the current policy before mailing anything personal.
- Address the envelope for ALDOC processing: Include “ALDOC Inmate Mail Processing,” then the inmate’s name and AIS number so the mail can be routed correctly.
- Add your return address clearly: Put your full name and physical address in the top left corner of the envelope.
- ✓ Expect personal letters, pictures, and drawings to be delivered digitally through the tablet’s “Facility Messages” app under the free profile.
- ✓ Do not send writing pads.
- ✓ Do not send torn-out magazine pages.
- ✓ Do not send news clippings.
- ✓ Do not send writing instruments.
- Send packages and legal mail to the facility’s local address: Do not use the ALDOC Inmate Mail Processing address for these items.
- Check the post-November 10, 2025 rules before mailing personal items: Personal mail sent to the facility after that date will not be delivered, so confirm what alternatives are currently available for messages, photos, and drawings.
What to Verify
- ✓ Confirm that personal mail is still being delivered digitally through the tablet’s “Facility Messages” app under the free profile.
- ✓ Confirm whether the November 10, 2025 cutoff is in effect as written, or whether the date or process has changed.
- ✓ Confirm the required addressing line includes “ALDOC Inmate Mail Processing,” along with the inmate’s name and AIS number.
- ✓ Confirm the sender full name and physical address requirement is enforced (top left corner of the envelope).
- ✓ Confirm the correct local physical address for packages and legal mail so they do not get misrouted.
Before you send anything: Check the prohibited-item list so your mail doesn't get rejected. Common items that aren't allowed include writing pads, torn-out magazine pages, news clippings, and writing instruments.
