Scheduling Your First Visit at Vista Detention Facility: Phone vs. Online

You have two ways to reserve a visit at Vista Detention Facility: by phone or through the Sheriff's eVisit online system. Want to talk to someone directly? Call (760) 936-0014 to lock in your time. eVisit is available 24 hours a day, Wednesday through Monday. The system goes offline every Tuesday, so if that's when you're trying to plan, you'll need to wait until Wednesday or pick up the phone.

What You Need

  • Your full legal name
  • Your date of birth
  • Your driver’s license or other government ID number
  • Your current home address
  • Your phone number
  • Your relationship to the incarcerated person

eVisit works well if you need flexibility - it's open around the clock from Wednesday through Monday, so you can schedule whenever you have a free moment. Just remember: the system shuts down every Tuesday. If you're booking close to a deadline, keep that Tuesday blackout in mind. You don't want to be stuck waiting for the system to come back online.

Note: eVisit won’t show visit times that conflict with an inmate’s scheduled events, so a time you expected to see may simply not appear. Also plan around weekly limits (two 30-minute social visits per week, Sunday–Saturday) and the fact that there are no non-contact visits scheduled on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Once you've reserved a time, plan your arrival carefully. At Vista Detention Facility, everyone in your visiting group must check in together - and you need to do it 1 hour before the scheduled visit. Bring valid photo identification. If someone arrives late or shows up separately, it can derail the whole visit. Coordinate rides and meet up before you get there.

Reminder: Inmates are allowed two 30-minute social visits per week, and the visit week runs Sunday through Saturday - so one missed check-in can mean waiting until the next week to try again.
