What to Bring (and What to Leave Home) When Visiting Vista Detention Facility
A little prep goes a long way at Vista Detention Facility. Here's what most often stops a visit at the door—and how to avoid it.
Bring a valid photo ID. You'll need to show it at check-in, and without it, you won't get through. Not sure if yours will work? Sort that out before you make the trip.
If you’re bringing kids, plan for them to be with a qualified adult the entire time. Have everyone arrive together and be ready to follow staff instructions during check-in so you don’t lose your spot or your visit time.
Arrive early - earlier than you think. Vista Detention Facility requires all visitors to check in together one hour before the scheduled visit. Show up late or arrive separately, and the visit may not happen.
At arrival, staff will verify adult visitor information in the JIMS system. This step matters: only visits marked as
Visits are limited, so plan ahead. Inmates get two 30-minute social visits per week, and the visit week runs Sunday through Saturday. Coordinating with other family or friends? Keep that weekly cap in mind so no one accidentally uses up a slot someone else was counting on.
Trying to visit without a reservation? It depends on space. Walk-ins may be accepted when there's availability, but you still need to arrive with your entire party and check in one hour before the time you're hoping for.
