How to Register Your Phone to Receive Calls from an Inmate at W. F. Ramsey Unit
Want to receive calls from someone at the W. F. Ramsey Unit? Your phone number needs to be registered first. Here's what you'll need and what to do if you hit a snag.
You'll need to register your phone number online through the Texas Inmate Telephone Friends & Family Enrollment. Without this step, calls simply won't connect - so taking care of registration upfront saves frustration for everyone.
Before you start, grab the inmate's TDCJ ID number. The system uses it to link your phone to the right person, and you can't complete registration without it.
Head to the Texas Inmate Telephone Friends & Family Enrollment online and follow the prompts. You'll enter the inmate's TDCJ ID and the phone number where you want to receive calls. Double-check that number before submitting - typos mean missed calls.

TDCJ's inmate phone system operates under state rules, and all calls to friends and family are paid calls. That's why enrollment comes first - your number must be approved in the Friends & Family system before any calls can come through.
Once you're registered, you have three payment options. First, the inmate can place a collect call - you accept charges when the phone rings. Second, if you own the receiving phone number, you can set up a Friends & Family Prepaid account and deposit money to cover calls. Third, there's the inmate prepaid debit account (Securus Debit), where funds go into the inmate's account to pay for outgoing calls.
