Understanding W. F. Ramsey Unit’s Weekend Visiting Hours and Two‑Hour Time Limits

The W. F. Ramsey Unit is open for visits on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Plan your drive and check-in with that window in mind.

Regular contact visits are limited to two hours. The clock doesn't start when you arrive or sign in - it begins once both you and your loved one are together in the visiting area. Processing delays inside the unit can eat into that time, so build in extra buffer on your end.

Each inmate at the Ramsey Unit is allowed only one visit per weekend. If multiple people on the approved Visitors List show up the same weekend without coordinating, someone will be turned away - the weekend visit has already been used. Avoid a wasted trip by treating weekends like a shared calendar. Decide ahead of time who's visiting which weekend and stick to that plan. Check in with the inmate when possible so everyone stays on the same page.

1. Start with the online scheduler - look for the “Schedule Visit” option for the inmate you want to see.
2. Call if the scheduler tells you to - if the “Schedule Visit” button is blank or replaced with “Call Unit,” you’ll need to call the inmate’s unit of assignment to schedule.
3. Call again before you travel - unit visitation information is updated regularly, so get final confirmation from the unit before you drive out.
