Setting Up Video Visits with Someone at W. F. Ramsey Unit: Securus Remote vs. Kiosk (Tablet) Visits
Setting up a video visit with someone at the W. F. Ramsey Unit? First, you need to know which type you're scheduling. There are two options—Securus remote video visits and kiosk (tablet) visits—and they work differently.
At the Ramsey Unit, "Remote Video Visit" typically means a kiosk-based video visit. These are scheduled through the vendor's website, so that's where you'll want to start.
Remote video visits are limited to once per month, so plan ahead and pick a time you know works. The kiosk-based Remote Video Visit is considered an add-on for inmates eligible for contact or general visits. It doesn't replace in-person visits - it's an extra option.
Securus remote video visits run for 60 minutes and cost $10.00. Since it’s a paid, timed session, treat it like an appointment: be ready to start on time so you don’t lose minutes.
Securus allows one remote video visit per month. If you're trying to schedule and nothing shows up, check whether you've already used that month's slot.
Need help with Securus? Follow the directions on the Securus website to register for remote video visits. If something isn’t working, call Securus Customer Service at (877) 578-3658.
- Go to the vendor website - kiosk-based Remote Video Visits must be scheduled through the vendor website.
- Follow the vendor’s scheduling prompts - select the Remote Video Visit option and complete the booking steps shown.
- Save your confirmation details - keep whatever confirmation information the vendor provides so you can reference it if there’s a problem later.
Kiosk-based Remote Video Visits are available once per month, for up to 60 minutes. If your loved one qualifies for contact or general visits, this kiosk option is available on top of those - a good backup when travel or timing makes in-person visits tough.
