Wake County Jail Visiting Hours: Days, Time Blocks, and Holidays

Wake County detention facilities have a daytime visiting window from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This is the block most people aim for, especially if you're working around a job, school pickup, or a long drive.

There's also an evening window from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. If mornings don't work for you, this later block is a solid option - just plan your travel so you arrive within that time range.

The Public Safety Center (PSC) and Wake County Detention Center offer visitation Monday through Thursday only. Weekends aren't part of the regular schedule at these locations.

Holiday exception: No visits are permitted on County holidays, even if the holiday falls on a normal visitation day.

All visits are conducted by video at the Wake County Detention Center, located at 3301 Hammond Road in Raleigh. Keep that address in mind when planning your trip.

Here's the biggest planning rule: each inmate gets one 30-minute visit per week. If you're coordinating with other family members, agree ahead of time on who's visiting when - otherwise the week's slot might get used before you get a chance.

  • Schedule the visit at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Call 919-857-9103 to schedule (Monday–Thursday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.).
