How Many People Can Visit at Once? Wake County's Two-Visitor Rule Explained

Wake County allows up to two visitors per inmate. That can be two adults, or one adult and one child. Decide ahead of time who's going in - if more than two people show up, not everyone can join the same visit.

One thing that trips people up: both visitors have to arrive together. You can't swap one person out mid-visit or take turns in the same slot. Plan on showing up at the same time if you want both visitors included.

Visits are limited in both time and frequency. Each inmate gets one visit per week, lasting 30 minutes. If you're juggling work schedules, childcare, or travel, treat that weekly 30-minute window as your one shot.

Plan ahead: Visits have to be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance, so same-day plans usually won’t work.

Bringing a child? Pay attention to the age rule. Visitors under 16 must be accompanied by someone 18 or older. That adult counts toward the two-visitor limit, so it'll be just the two of you in the visit.
