How to Schedule Your First Video Visit at Wake County Detention Center (Hammond Road)
Once you know the available time slots, the phone number to call, and the visitor limits, scheduling your first video visit is simple.
At the Wake County Detention Center on Hammond Road, all visitation is conducted by video. When you’re planning your visit, make sure you’re going to the correct location: Wake County Detention Center, 3301 Hammond Road, Raleigh.
Video visits run Monday through Thursday. There are two daily windows: 9:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.–6:30 p.m. Keep county holidays in mind - no visits are allowed on those days.
Call 919-857-9103 to schedule. Staff take calls Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. You need to book at least 24 hours ahead - same-day scheduling isn't an option. Call as soon as you know what day works for you.
Each inmate gets one 30-minute visit per week. If other family members also want to visit, coordinate ahead of time so you don't accidentally use up the weekly slot.
Up to two people can attend each appointment - two adults, or one adult and one child. Both visitors share the same time slot; you can't split it into separate back-to-back visits. Bringing a child? Anyone under 16 needs to be accompanied by someone 18 or older, so plan for that adult to attend the appointment too.
Note: Only visitors registered by the officer will be allowed in. If you refuse to provide the requested information, your visit will be denied.
