Understanding Booking, Sustenance, and Release Fees at Wakulla County Jail
Planning ahead for costs? Here's what matters: Wakulla charges fees at booking and daily during incarceration. If they aren't paid, those fees follow the person to release—and beyond.
Everyone booked into Wakulla Corrections Inst gets charged a booking fee. The jail also charges a daily sustenance fee while someone is incarcerated. These are standard charges, so plan for them from day one when thinking about deposits and release-day payments.
Note: The facility also states that medical fees may apply for people who request services.
If the person doesn't have funds when they're booked, Wakulla deducts the booking and daily sustenance fees from money sent to them later. So if you send a deposit for commissary or basic needs, expect some of it to go toward these fees before the person sees their balance.
- Use the Inmate Deposit System - Wakulla allows funds to be added to an inmate trust account through its Inmate Deposit System.
- Deposit at the lobby kiosk - You can use the kiosk machine in the Sheriff’s Office lobby.
- Deposit online - You can also send funds through commissarydeposit.com.
Booking and sustenance fees are due immediately at release. Wakulla accepts cash, money order, or certified check - and the amount must be exact.
Unpaid fees don't disappear. Wakulla turns the outstanding balance over to billing, and additional fees get tacked on.
These fees can also resurface later. If the person is incarcerated again and has funds available, Wakulla may recover the unpaid balance at that time.

- ✓ Confirm what’s owed before release so you can bring the exact amount (cash, money order, or certified check).
- ✓ If you’re planning to deposit money during incarceration, remember that booking and daily sustenance fees may be deducted from funds sent in after booking.
- ✓ Consider sending deposits early (through the lobby kiosk or commissarydeposit.com) so there’s money available if deductions are taken.
Reminder: Don’t count on waivers or assistance unless you’ve been told directly by the facility - plan around the fees being due as described.
