How to Visit Facility
Need to reach staff outside normal business hours? VADOC uses an on-call Duty Agent system. A Special Agent is assigned as the on-call Duty Agent, and the Duty Agent schedule (including telephone numbers) is sent to the Operations and Logistics Unit (OLU). To contact the Duty Agent, call the OLU directly.
Before you plan a trip, check the VADOC Visitation page for cancellations and updates to visitation procedures. A quick look right before you leave can save you from showing up on a day when visits have been changed or paused.
Note: This section only covers where to check for visitation updates and how after-hours Duty Agent contact works through the OLU. It does not confirm visiting hours, fees, or any facility-specific visitation rules.
Steps to Follow
- ✓ Check the VADOC Visitation page for cancellations and any updates to current visitation procedures.
- ✓ If you need to contact the on-call Duty Agent outside normal business hours, call the Operations and Logistics Unit (OLU), since the Duty Agent schedule and telephone numbers are provided to OLU.
Before you go, check the VADOC Visitation page for cancellations and procedural updates. Visitation operations can change without much notice, so treat that page as your last-minute checkpoint before traveling.
If you need after-hours help, make sure you have the correct contact route for the on-call Duty Agent. The Duty Agent schedule and phone numbers go to the Operations and Logistics Unit (OLU), so confirm you're calling OLU with current contact information.
Reminder: Don't assume details like specific visiting hours, approved visitor lists, dress code, or fees from this page. If something isn't clearly covered on the VADOC Visitation page, ask the facility directly or contact OLU for after-hours Duty Agent assistance.
