To receive calls, set up a Securus account online - either pre-paid collect or direct-bill. Having your account ready means you can accept calls immediately instead of scrambling to figure out payment when the phone rings.

Prefer to handle setup by phone? Call 1-800-844-6591 to create a pre-paid collect or direct-bill Securus account. This works well if online registration gives you trouble or you'd rather talk through the options with someone.

Privacy reminder: Calls may be subject to monitoring and recording, so assume anything said on the line could be reviewed.

Calls max out at 25 minutes. The line cuts off when you hit that cap - even mid-sentence - so plan for shorter conversations.

Call forwarding isn't allowed. Using it can block calls from going through entirely.

Three-way calling is also prohibited. Adding another person to the line can end the call immediately or cause problems with future calls.

Even with money in your account, calls only go through to approved numbers. Your exact phone number needs to be on the offender's Call Allow List - confirm it's there before you start waiting for calls.
