What You Can't Bring to Washington County Correctional (PA) — Clear Checklist

Top Forbidden

  • Weapons of any kind
  • Tools of any kind
  • Anything that could be used as a weapon or a tool (not allowed in the facility or the lobby)
  • If you’re an official law enforcement visitor: do not bring weapons past the entry point - secure them in the secure locker in the entry vestibule

Washington County Correctional is tobacco-free. That means no smoking and no tobacco products (or related devices) anywhere in the facility, the adjoining buildings, or on the grounds.

Don’t bring snacks, drinks, or even “quick sips” into the building. Food and beverages aren’t allowed inside the facility.

Hats and head coverings stay outside. You can't wear one, and you can't even have one on you once you're inside.

Go in empty-handed - nothing may be taken into the facility. Lockers are provided so you can secure personal items before entering.

Stash what you brought in the lockers, including your outerwear. Jackets, coats, and any outer garments must go in a locker. If something won't fit, take it back to your vehicle.

Reminder: Hats and head coverings can't be worn inside - and you can't keep one on you while in the facility.

Expect screening. All visitors and their belongings are subject to search at any time.

  1. Go through the metal detector - you must be able to pass through without activating the warning.
  2. If you can’t pass, expect a decision at the door - you’ll be refused admission or may be required to submit to a clothed search before being admitted.

The facility, adjoining buildings, and grounds are all tobacco-free - no stepping outside for a smoke break. Leave tobacco products and related devices at home or locked in your vehicle so you're not turned away at screening.

Loss of visitation privileges: If you violate the visiting rules, you’ll be required to leave the facility and surrounding grounds and won’t be permitted to return.

These rules are enforced at the door. Refuse screening, or keep setting off the metal detector, and you can be denied entry - or required to complete a clothed search before being admitted. Since visitors and their belongings can be searched at any time, bringing prohibited items can end your visit fast. It can cost you future visits, too.
