Setting Up Your Securus Account for Video Visits to Washington State Penitentiary

To schedule a video visit with someone at Washington State Penitentiary (WSP), you need two things: you must be on the incarcerated individual's approved visitor list, and you need a Securus account set up for video visitation. Missing either one? You won't be able to schedule.

Before you start, grab the incarcerated individual's DOC Number. You'll need it during account setup, and having it ready will keep you from getting stuck halfway through.

When creating your Securus account, enter your first name, last name, and date of birth exactly as they appear on your legal ID. This trips people up more than anything - even small spelling differences or a wrong birthdate can cause verification issues. One thing that catches a lot of families off guard: don't enter your middle name or middle initial. Just use your first and last name, and double-check that your date of birth matches your ID exactly.

Once you're approved and your Securus account is set up, you can schedule video visits through Securus at least 24 hours ahead of time. Visits run in 30-minute slots and fill up on a first-come, first-served basis - so plan early. Keep in mind that video visit hours are set by each facility, including WSP. If you don't see the time slot you expected, it may be that the facility's hours differ from what you assumed, or the slots already filled up.

1. Compare your Securus profile to your legal ID - confirm your first name, last name, and date of birth match your ID exactly (and that you did not include a middle name or middle initial).
2. Contact Securus customer assistance to update your profile - if your name or date of birth is wrong in Securus, you’ll need Securus customer assistance to help correct it before you move forward with scheduling.
