Starting a Huber Sentence at Waupaca County Jail: Fees, Paperwork, and What to Bring
Starting a Huber (work-release) sentence takes some advance planning. Handle the date, fee, and paperwork on time, and you'll give yourself the best chance of having work release approved when your sentence begins.
Huber privileges let you serve your sentence while leaving for approved work. But they're not automatic. You'll need to complete the jail's required steps and pay the $140.00 weekly Huber fee before any work release is granted.
Your first step is setting your sentence start date with a Corrections Sergeant in person. Head to the front lobby of the Waupaca County Law Enforcement Center. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If work or transportation makes that tricky, plan ahead so you can get there during the weekday window.
Note: You cannot set your sentence start date by phone. You must meet a Corrections Sergeant in person at the front lobby during the weekday hours listed.
The weekly Huber fee is $140.00. The jail requires this fee paid before granting any work release, so treat it as a prerequisite, not something to sort out after you arrive.
- ✓ Pay the $140.00 weekly Huber fee. The fee must be paid before any work release is granted.
At least one week before your sentence starts, submit paperwork so the jail can verify your work release details. You'll need your work schedule plus driver and vehicle information: a valid driver's license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance. Getting this in a full week early matters. Verification happens before your sentence begins.
- ✓ Work schedule (submit one week before your start date)
- ✓ Valid driver’s license
- ✓ Vehicle registration
- ✓ Proof of insurance
Reminder: Submit your work schedule and driver/vehicle documents one week before you start. Work release also requires paying the $140.00 weekly Huber fee first.
Pack light. Huber inmates can bring three sets of clothing, one jacket, and one pair of shoes. Nothing else is allowed in.
