What You Can and Can't Bring to Visitation at Waupaca County Jail

Visiting someone at Waupaca County Jail goes more smoothly when you arrive with as little as possible. All visitors are subject to a wand or pat search at any time, and personal items are restricted in the Visitation Area. Plan ahead and leave anything non-essential secured before you go in.

If you bring personal property, you'll need to keep it out of the Visitation Area. Use a locker or secure the item in your vehicle. Keep track of your belongings; the facility is not responsible for lost or stolen property.

You have two basic options for your things while you visit: use the lockers provided for visitors, or lock items in your vehicle. Either way, don't bring valuables you can't afford to lose. The jail is not responsible for lost or stolen property.

If you need a physician-approved medical device during your visit (for example, a heart monitor or a brace), bring written documentation that explains the medical need. Without that paperwork, the device may not be allowed in visitation.

1. Bring written documentation of medical need - have paperwork that shows the device is physician-approved and medically necessary.
2. Show the documentation when you arrive - be ready to present it during check-in.
3. Cooperate with screening - visitors are subject to a wand or pat search at any time, so the device may be inspected as part of security.

There is a narrow exception for clothing. Personal clothing that is appropriate for trial hearings may be received during visitation only if it is ordered by the Court.

Stay where you're supposed to be. Loitering or being in unauthorized areas of the Law Enforcement Center or Jail is not permitted, including the Second and Third Floor corridors in the visiting area. Follow staff directions and keep personal property secured. Bringing in unauthorized items is taken seriously and can lead to prosecution.
