Waupun was one of the first Wisconsin DOC sites to switch to ICS tablets, which changed how messaging works. If your loved one at WCI has an ICS tablet, you'll need Getting Out for messages and photos—but keep your CorrLinks account open during the broader transition.
Waupun Correctional Institution (WCI) was one of the first three Wisconsin DOC sites to receive ICS tablets back in March 2024. That's why families with loved ones at Waupun started hearing about messaging changes before other institutions did.
The bottom line: if you want to message or send photos to someone at WCI who has an ICS tablet, you need a Getting Out (GTL) account. CorrLinks may still exist in the background during the statewide changeover, but Getting Out is what you'll actually use day-to-day.
Set up your Getting Out account before you try to send anything. For WCI, this isn't optional - messages and photos go through Getting Out, so creating that account is step one.
- Choose how you want to sign up - download the Getting Out app, or use the Getting Out website.
- Create your Getting Out (GTL) account - once your account is set up, you’ll be able to use it for messaging and sending photos to someone with an ICS tablet.
Warning: Don’t close your CorrLinks account yet. The Department of Corrections advises keeping CorrLinks open until all Division of Adult Institutions sites have completed the transition to ICS tablets.
Even if your loved one at WCI is already using ICS tablets, the statewide transition isn't finished. DOC's guidance is clear: keep CorrLinks active and wait for official notice about what to do with your account (and any unused purchases) once all sites have moved over.
If Messages or Funds Missing
- ✓ Confirm you created a Getting Out (GTL) account (this is required for messaging/photos to someone with an ICS tablet at WCI).
- ✓ Double-check you sent the message or photo through Getting Out (not through CorrLinks).
- ✓ Verify you selected the correct person/recipient inside Getting Out.
- ✓ Look back at your purchase/transaction confirmation for the message/photo you tried to send (so you can reference it if you need help).
