How to Schedule Your First In-Person Visit at Waupun Correctional Institution

3 min read Verified from official sources

At Waupun Correctional Institution (WCI), all in-person visits are scheduled online through the ICSolutions website. You'll create an account there, then use it to request and book your visit.

Before anything else, know the one detail that trips up most first-time visitors: the information on your ICSolutions account has to match your approved Wisconsin DOC visitor application exactly. Even small differences in how your name is entered can block you from scheduling.

First, confirm that the person you want to visit has you on their DOC-approved visitor list. Without that approval, you won't be able to schedule, and even if you show up in person, staff can turn you away. Checking this first saves you a wasted trip.

Next, create your ICSolutions account. WCI uses ICSolutions for all visit requests. As you enter your details, match them exactly to the approved Wisconsin DOC visitor application you submitted: same full legal name, same formatting (including middle name or initial if you used one), and same date of birth. A mismatch can block your booking or cause problems at check-in.

  • Full legal name entered exactly as it appears on your approved WI DOC visitor application
  • Date of birth entered exactly as it appears on your approved WI DOC visitor application
  • Relationship entered the same way it was listed on your application
  • Photo ID ready for the day of your visit if you are 16 or older (valid state driver’s license, passport or visa, DMV photo ID, military ID, or tribal photo ID)

Once your account is set up, you can pick a date. WCI requires visits to be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance and no more than 14 days in advance.

In-person visits at WCI run Monday through Friday in two time blocks: 2:45pm to 5:15pm, and 5:45pm to 8:15pm. Make sure the slot you choose in ICSolutions falls inside one of those windows.

Keep visit limits in mind, too. General population inmates at WCI are allowed five in-person visits per month, with a max of two per week. If you're planning multiple visits, track those caps so you don't hit a conflict later in the month.

After booking, save your confirmation (screenshot or email) and double-check the visitor details tied to the appointment. On visit day, anyone age 16 or older needs photo identification. Acceptable forms include a valid state driver's license, passport or visa, DMV photo ID, military ID, or tribal photo ID.

Running into problems registering or logging in? Contact ICSolutions support directly. They handle account setup issues, login trouble, and other technical roadblocks that can keep you from requesting a visit.

Watch for booking killers: Schedule within the 48-hour to 14-day window, and make sure your ICSolutions account information matches your approved WI DOC visitor application exactly. If either one is off, your visit can be flagged as invalid or you can be denied entry.

On visit day, time your arrival carefully. WCI advises visitors to arrive no more than 15 minutes before visiting hours start. Show up too early and you may be turned away.
