Understanding Waupun's Video Visit Options: Free vs. Paid Visits

WCI's visiting document describes an allowance of two video visits per month. When that document was written, those two visits were free - though it warns this could change. Each visit runs 50 minutes, so you can plan for a full conversation rather than a quick check-in.

DOC rollout materials for Enhanced Video Visitation describe a different setup. During the first six months, each person in DOC care may receive one free video visit per week - if the institution can accommodate it. Additional paid visits are available at $2.50 per visit, up to 12 paid visits per month, again depending on the facility's capacity.

These two sources don't line up. WCI's document says two free video visits per month. The DOC rollout materials say one free visit per week for six months, plus paid options. Both are official, but they may reflect different scopes, timeframes, or how the program was rolled out at WCI specifically. The bottom line: don't assume anything about free vs. paid until you confirm what's currently applied to your loved one's account.

1. Start with WCI’s current visiting document - It’s the closest thing to “local rules,” and it’s where the two-free-visits-per-month and 50-minute visit length are spelled out.
2. Use ICSolutions for scheduling - WCI’s document is explicit that visits are scheduled through ICSolutions and that WCI staff can’t schedule those visits for you.
