How to Request Wayne County Court Records and Check Cases Online

Wayne County gives you two paths depending on what you need. Want actual copies of documents emailed or mailed to you? Use the Clerk's Electronic Request Form. Just need to check case status quickly - upcoming hearings, recent filings, basic info? MyCase and Doxpop let you look that up from home without filing a formal request.

Download the Electronic Request Form PDF to your device first - don't just open it in a browser tab. The Clerk's instructions are clear: open the form in a PDF reader like Adobe Acrobat Reader. The built-in "E-mail" button won't work otherwise. If the button doesn't respond, you're probably still viewing the file in-browser.

Once you've filled out the form, the easiest way to submit is the "E-mail" button at the bottom of the PDF. Open it in a proper PDF reader, click the button, and it'll launch your email program with the recipient already filled in. No copying addresses, no typos.

Can't use the button? You can still attach the completed PDF to an email and send it manually. But be careful - Wayne County's Clerk materials show more than one version of the record-request email address. Don't guess. Confirm the correct recipient before you hit send (the next section explains how).

Checklist

  • Your full name and best contact information (email and/or mailing address)
  • The case number (if you have it)
  • A clear description of the record(s) you’re requesting
  • Any identification or proof the Clerk may require for the specific record type
  • How you want the copies delivered (email or mail)

If you just want to track what's happening - upcoming court dates, recent filings, basic case info - MyCase and Doxpop are built for that. The Clerk's office specifically recommends them for quick lookups without a courthouse trip. Save the Electronic Request Form for when you need actual document copies.

Note: The Clerk's site warns that most offices can't do research on your behalf. If your request requires extended digging (like genealogical research), you may need to work directly with the relevant office or hire a local research agent.

For marriage and divorce records, start with the Clerk's Office at 301 East Main St., Richmond, IN 47374. Phone: (765) 973-9541. Requesting a marriage record by mail? Before emailing your completed form, double-check you're sending it to the right place. Wayne County's Clerk materials show conflicting email addresses, so the safest approach is using the form's built-in "E-mail" button - it auto-fills the recipient. If you're attaching the form manually and aren't sure which address to use, call the Clerk's main line at (765) 973-9541 and verify before you send.
