Scheduling, Adding Visitors, and Canceling Visits: A GDC Guide for Appling Families

Scheduling a visit through the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) comes down to using the right online tool. Here's how to request a visit, add someone to an existing appointment, or cancel when plans change.

To schedule a visit, use GDC's online "Request a Visit" form. This is the official way to reserve a time slot with your loved one and get a visit on the calendar.

Note: You need to be an approved visitor before you can schedule. To get approved, fill out the Visitation Request Form and submit it to the facility where your loved one is incarcerated.

Already have a visit scheduled but need to add someone? Use GDC's "Add Visitor" link. It lets you find your existing appointment and add extra visitor(s) to it, so you don't have to start from scratch.

Need to cancel? Use the "Cancel my visit" link. It pulls up your scheduled appointment so you can cancel it when plans fall through.

Reminder: All of GDC's visitation tools require visitor approval first. To get approved, fill out the Visitation Request Form and submit it to the facility where your loved one is incarcerated.

Checklist Before

  • Confirm you are an approved visitor (you filled out the Visitation Request Form and submitted the completed form to the facility where your loved one is incarcerated)
  • Have the details you normally use to identify your loved one in GDC’s system (for example, their GDC information)
  • Be ready to use the correct GDC online option: “Request a Visit” to schedule, “Add Visitor” to add people to an existing appointment, or “Cancel my visit” to cancel
