Who Can Visit at West Central: Immediate Family vs Significant Relationship Visitors

At West Central, offenders can request visitation approval for certain immediate family members. This includes parents, siblings, a spouse, grandparents, grandchildren, and children.

Being immediate family doesn't automatically get you in - you still need to become an approved visitor first. Start by filling out the Visitation Request Form and submitting it to the facility where the offender is housed. Here's something worth knowing: you must be on the approved visitor list to send money to an offender, regardless of which payment method you use.

Not immediate family? You may still qualify under what Georgia Department of Corrections calls a "significant relationship" visitor. This category covers step-parents, step-siblings, in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, half-siblings, nieces, nephews, step-children, friends, employers, pastors, and others who could provide rehabilitative support. The catch: the offender has to initiate the request for you to be considered.

1. Have the offender start the request - For significant-relationship visitors, the offender must initiate the process.
2. Complete the Significant Relationship Visitor Application - The offender fills out the “Significant Relationship Visitor Application for Visitation Privilege.”
3. Send it for review - That application is sent to the Warden/Superintendent for review.
4. Wait for the decision to be relayed - After review, the offender is notified of approval or disapproval.
5. Submit the Visitation Request Form if you’re approved - To become an approved visitor, you must fill out the Visitation Request Form and submit the completed form to the facility where the offender is incarcerated.

Visits at West Central Integrated Treatment Facility must be scheduled in advance. Visiting hours are 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, Sunday, and State Holidays. Plan ahead - the cutoff to request a weekend visit is 5:00 PM on Wednesday of the same week. For state holidays, requests must be in by 5:00 PM three days before the holiday.
