Before Your First Visit to Western New Mexico C.F.: Visitor Application & Approval

You'll need to complete the New Mexico Corrections Department Visitor Application for Visiting Privileges (Form CD-100201.1). This form requires renewal every two (2) years, so keep a copy of what you submit. Mail your completed application to the facility visiting coordinator unless you're given different instructions. Not sure where to send it? Confirm before mailing - applications sent to the wrong place can sit in limbo for weeks.

Need help or want to confirm where to send your paperwork? Contact NMCD Family Constituent Services at CDFamilySrvcs@cd.nm.gov or call (505) 827-8710 or (505) 231-4762.

You'll need to read and sign the Visitor Statement of Understanding (Attachment CD-100201.A) before visiting. No signature, no visit. The statement covers security expectations. Searches can happen anytime you're on institutional grounds. If a strip search is required and you refuse, your visit will be cancelled or suspended. Knowing this upfront helps you decide whether you're comfortable proceeding.

When you arrive, you'll register at the front desk. This check-in goes hand-in-hand with having your Visitor Statement on file. Build in extra time so you're not rushing through it.

Your visitor application goes through identity and eligibility screening, which typically includes a criminal-record check. The easiest way to avoid delays: complete every question fully and honestly, and make sure your information matches your ID exactly. If something in your background might raise questions, be upfront on the application. Discrepancies found during review slow everything down.

Verify-before-mailing

  • Confirm the current submission instructions (where to mail the application and whether any alternate process is being used) by checking with the facility visiting coordinator or NMCD Family Constituent Services.
  • Ask whether any facility-specific requirements affect your application before you send it.
  • Keep the two-year renewal requirement in mind so you can re-submit Form CD-100201.1 on time later.
