How to Contact an Inmate at Facility

If you're trying to set up a video visit, start here: this facility does not schedule video visits directly. They're handled through Smart Communication on the inmate tablets. Before you can schedule a video visit, you need to be approved through the New Mexico Corrections Department (NMCD). If you haven't been approved yet, complete NMCD's approval process first, then move on to scheduling through the tablet system.

There's a limit on what NMCD can tell you about someone's condition. They cannot share health or mental health information unless the offender has signed a current release that is witnessed or notarized, and that release specifically authorizes the information you're requesting.

For questions or help, contact Family Constituent Services. Call (505) 827-8710 or (505) 231-4762, and leave a message if nobody picks up. You can also email CDFamilySrvcs@cd.nm.gov. Include identifying details up front so they can route your request correctly.

Steps to Follow

  • Get approved through NMCD before trying to schedule a video visit.
  • Use Smart Communication on the inmate tablets for video visits (the facility does not schedule video visits).
  • If you contact Family Constituent Services with a question, include the offender’s full name, NMCD number, date of birth and/or SSN (if available), and your relationship to the offender.

Note: NMCD cannot share health or mental health information without a current release that is signed and witnessed or notarized by the offender.

How to Contact an Inmate at Facility
  1. Contact Family Constituent Services: Call (505) 827-8710 or (505) 231-4762 (leave a message if you do not reach someone), or email CDFamilySrvcs@cd.nm.gov.
  2. Confirm what identifiers they need from you: At minimum, be ready with the offender’s full name, NMCD number, date of birth and/or SSN (if available), and your relationship to the offender.

Processes can change, so double-check the current video visit workflow before spending time troubleshooting. As of the most recent guidance for this facility, video visits are not scheduled through the facility itself. They go through Smart Communication on the inmate tablets, and you must be approved through NMCD before you can schedule.
