How to Request a Special Visit at Western New Mexico C.F. (long-distance visitors, employers, law enforcement)

Special visits are for situations that don't fit normal visiting arrangements. At Western New Mexico C.F., that means visitors traveling over 500 miles, prospective employers who need to meet with an incarcerated person, and law enforcement officers. These visits aren't automatic - you have to request them ahead of time, and the facility must approve before you can visit.

How to Request a Special Visit at Western New Mexico C.F. (long-distance visitors, employers, law enforcement)

You'll need the Special Visit Request form, CD-100201.3. This is the official New Mexico Corrections Department form for long-distance visitors, employers, and law enforcement special-visit requests.

  • Offender’s full name
  • Offender’s NMCD number
  • Offender’s date of birth and/or SSN (if available)
  • Your relationship to the offender

Your request goes through an approval chain. First, it needs sign-off at the unit level - from the Unit Manager, Programs Director, or Classification Supervisor. Then it moves to the facility Deputy Warden for final approval. This takes time, so submit your request as far in advance as possible. That's especially true if you're coordinating travel or a work-related visit.

Questions about visitation or need help with a special visit request? Contact Family Constituent Services. Email CDFamilySrvcs@cd.nm.gov or call (505) 827-8710 or (505) 231-4762. If no one answers, leave a message.

When you reach out, include enough information so staff can find the right person without back-and-forth. Provide the offender's full name and NMCD number. If you have it, add their date of birth and/or SSN. State your relationship to the offender and mention that you're asking about a special visit.
