How to Send Money to an Inmate (Western New Mexico C.F.) — Money Order Rules & Who Can Send
Sending money to someone at Western New Mexico C.F. has strict rules: outside funds must arrive by U.S. mail as a money order. Follow the addressing guidelines and make sure you're on the approved-sender list, and your deposit should post without delays.
At Western New Mexico C.F., all money for inmates must be sent through U.S. mail. The facility only accepts money orders - no cash, no personal checks. There are limited exceptions for official payments or refunds, but if you're family or a friend, plan on buying a money order and mailing it in.
- Buy a money order - use a money order as your payment type (not cash or a personal check).
- Write the inmate’s name - put the inmate’s name on the money order so staff can match it correctly.
- Add the five-digit Corrections number - include the inmate’s five (5) digit Corrections number on the money order to avoid misposting or delays.
Not just anyone can send funds. You must be on the inmate's approved visitor list for them to receive money from you. If you're unsure whether you're approved, confirm before buying and mailing a money order. Otherwise, the deposit gets rejected and returned.
Heads up: Anonymous gifts aren't accepted. Money sent by someone permanently or indefinitely suspended from visiting will be returned to the sender.
Don't drop off money at the facility: Visitors can't leave money at Western New Mexico C.F. in any form - use the mail process. Cash, currency, or personal checks won't be accepted and will be returned.
Once your money order is processed, the funds go into the inmate's Inmate Trust Fund (ITF) account. This account information is confidential - balances and details aren't shared with other inmates.
