How Commissary Orders Work at Western Tidewater: Timing, Limits, and What Happens If an Inmate Leaves
Commissary makes a real difference in someone's day-to-day comfort inside. Here's how orders work at Western Tidewater Regional Jail—weekly limits, when orders go in and arrive, and what happens if someone gets released or transferred.
Western Tidewater Regional Jail uses Oasis for commissary. Through Oasis, inmates can order everyday items - hygiene products, snacks, and some clothing. Ordering from the outside? You'll go through the Oasis site. Select your state, choose Western Tidewater Regional Jail, then pick the inmate you're ordering for before browsing available items.
Inmates can place their own canteen orders up to $200 per week. If your loved one is budgeting carefully, planning around that cap helps ensure they don't run out of room for essentials later in the week.
Family and friends can also order through Oasis. The limit: an inmate can receive up to $200 per week from outside orders. This matters when multiple people want to help. If several people place orders the same week, the combined total still can't exceed that $200 allowance.

Inmates can place canteen orders any day except Monday. If your loved one missed their window, Monday is the day to check - no orders go through that day.
Canteen deliveries start on Wednesday each week, but they don't always wrap up the same day. The jail has until Friday to complete all deliveries. If an order hasn't arrived by midweek, it may still be working through the regular delivery process.
If an inmate is released or transferred, Western Tidewater won't hold their canteen order. The items go back to Oasis, and the money gets credited. This can sting if a release happens right after you place an order. But the policy keeps things clean - items don't follow someone out the door once they're no longer housed there.
Note: Credits for returned canteen items are separate from the balance paid out on release day. Don't expect that canteen credit to show up in release-day funds.
Problem with an Oasis order - missing items, a confusing charge, something that doesn't look right? Contact Oasis directly through their contacts page or call 1-800-956-2747.
If you need to add money for commissary spending, deposits to an inmate’s canteen fund can be made using the kiosk in the jail lobby.
