Mailing to Wichita County Jail: Which Address to Use for Letters, Books, Legal Mail, and Money Orders

For regular personal letters, use the jail's personal-mail address. Make sure the envelope includes the inmate's full name and SO number. Mail to: Wichita County Detention Center, Inmate's Name and SO Number, PO Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131.

Books and legal mail go to a different PO Box than regular letters - don't mix them up. For books, include the inmate's name and SO number on the package and mail it to: Inmate's Name and SO Number, PO Box 8466, Wichita Falls, Texas 76301. Legal mail goes to the same PO Box, but with one extra requirement: write "legal mail" clearly on the envelope. Address it to: Inmate's Name and SO number, PO Box 8466, Wichita Falls, TX 76301.

Money orders go through the Law Enforcement Center. You can mail them or drop them off in person. Include the inmate's name and SO number on the money order, then send or deliver it to: Law Enforcement Center, Attention: Finance Officer, Inmate's Name and SO Number, 2815 Central Freeway East, Wichita Falls, Texas 76302.

Photos Cards

• ✓ Greeting cards: No tri-fold, multilayered, or padded cards.
• ✓ Greeting cards: No glitter, glued substances, or electronic components.

Mail that includes third-party items or other prohibited contents will be rejected and returned to you. Before sending anything, double-check you're using the right address for what you're mailing. Keep it simple - most rejections happen because of extra items that aren't allowed in the envelope or package.

Sending a book? Two rules matter most: it must ship directly from a publisher (not a bookstore or wholesaler), and it must go to the books PO Box. Address the package to the inmate's name and SO number and mail it to: Inmate's Name and SO Number, PO Box 8466, Wichita Falls, Texas 76301.
