How to Contact an Inmate at Facility

Wicomico County Detention Center does not allow incoming calls or telephone messages to inmates. All calls go the other direction: inmates place collect calls from facility phones, so you'll need to be set up to accept collect calls if you want to talk by phone.

Inmates can use the telephones from 8 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. Phones are located in each housing area. If you're trying to catch a call, keep that window in mind, especially if you missed one earlier in the day.

Emergency: If you have an emergency, call 410-548-4850 and ask to speak to the shift supervisor.

Steps-to-follow

  • Expect collect calls only. Inmates cannot receive incoming calls or phone messages.
  • Be ready during phone hours (8 a.m. to 9:45 p.m.).
  • Know that calls are made from phones located in each housing area.

Prepay calling accounts: Information on setting up a prepay inmate calling account is available through ConnectNetwork, or by calling 1-800-483-8314.

Rules and phone access can change, so confirm a few details before you sit by the phone waiting. Check that inmate calls are still collect-only, verify the current phone hours (listed as 8 a.m. to 9:45 p.m.), and double-check the latest instructions for setting up a prepay calling account through ConnectNetwork (1-800-483-8314).

  1. Call 410-548-4850 and ask to speak to the shift supervisor.
  2. Write down the date and time you called so you have a clear record of when you reported the emergency and who you requested to speak with.
