How to Schedule a Remote Video Visit with Someone at William P. Clemens Unit

Remote video visits are live video sessions you schedule through the vendor's website. They're separate from regular in-person visits - think of them as an extra option for when your loved one qualifies. That said, they're not unlimited.

Note: For eligible inmates, remote video visits are limited to one per month and can last up to 60 minutes.

Schedule your remote video visit through the TDCJ visitation portal at https://visitation.tdcj.texas.gov/Visitation/. The portal connects to the vendor system, where you'll pick an available time slot and complete your booking.

  1. Go to the TDCJ visitation portal - Use https://visitation.tdcj.texas.gov/Visitation/ to start your video-visit scheduling.
  2. Select the video visit option - Choose the remote/tablet video visit option when prompted.
  3. Follow the vendor booking prompts - Pick an available time and complete the scheduling process through the vendor system for the live video visit.

A 60-minute Securus video visit costs $10.00. You'll pay through the vendor system when you schedule.

Before Visit Checks

  • Confirm your loved one is eligible for a remote video visit (these visits are only available for eligible inmates).
  • Make sure the monthly remote video visit hasn’t already been used - eligible inmates are limited to one remote video visit per month.
  • Keep the 60-minute cap in mind when you plan what you want to talk about.

Assume your conversation is monitored. All inmate visits are subject to electronic monitoring - attorney-client visits are the only exception. Don't use video visits to discuss legal strategy or anything you'd only share privately with a lawyer.

  1. Verify you actually have a confirmed booking - Log back into the scheduling system and confirm the visit shows as scheduled.
  2. Try reconnecting if the video drops - Since the visit is a live video session through the vendor, a quick reconnect can sometimes get you back in.
  3. Reschedule through the portal if you can’t get it working - Go back to the TDCJ visitation portal and follow the vendor prompts to pick a new slot.

If you travel to the unit for any reason, go in light. Vehicles and visitors are subject to search. Bring only coins for cash (up to $35), and leave your phone in the car - bringing a cell phone inside the secure perimeter can end your visit before it starts.

Warning: No cell phones are allowed inside the secure perimeter. Leave your phone secured in your vehicle before you enter.
